Addy started her journey into the world of psychology at the University of Utrecht and qualified in 1991. She moved to the UK in 1992 and has been working as a Clinical Psychologist for the National Health Service in the United Kingdom until 2012. In 2012 Addy transitioned to working as a freelance Clinical Psychologist in private practice.
Addy continues to offer mainstream evidence-based psychology services.
Addy has a special interest in third-wave psychological therapies and in particular the branch of Integral Psychology. Integral Psychology, formally known as transpersonal psychology, is a branch of psychology that recognises the connection between body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Integral Psychology also recognises the need for the development of greater awareness of who we are in our true essence, and what our highest spiritual purpose is whilst embodying this life on earth.
Addy grew up in a small hamlet in the Netherlands, surrounded by farms and countryside. Addy always knew she would end up in some kind of helping profession. Initially she wanted to become a nurse, but later found her passion in the field of psychology and mental health.
Alongside her career in clinical psychology and personal development, Addy never stopped seizing opportunities to invest in her own growth. She followed a strong inner guidance to seek and find deeper meaning in her own life. Addy was seeking answers to the questions of: "Who am I in my core?" and "What is life's purpose?". Following this path to inner-discovery, Addy has been an avid student and practitioner of the ancient Indian tradition of Advaita Vedanta, which is a path of non-duality; a tradition different than- but closely aligned with- Buddhism. Addy has been greatly influenced by the teachings of the great Indian Saints Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta Maharaj. Furthermore, since 2013 she has opened herself up to the profound guidance of some of the great contemporary non-duality teachers, including Mooji and Rupert Spira.
Addy also finds herself to be deeply aligned with the teachings of the Course in Miracles. She continues to be fully committed to applying the teachings and pointings of non-duality and the Course in Miracles in her day to day life.
Addy is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Addy also holds a Doctorate Degree in Coaching Psychology and Master’s Degree in Health Psychology.
